The main purpose of the project is to create an example of how the public space can exist in the city in a more qualified and adapted way to the world conditions. Today’s social structure has become more and more individualized, away from nature and led to synthetic lives. Therefore, this situation brings with it many socioeconomic and psychological problems. Public spaces are the only urban equipment that can prevent this alienation. While the economic stratification that creates cities prevents the creation of public space even in regions with high socioeconomic welfare, it almost completely does not allow this in regions with lower socio-economic levels. This deficiency increases the movement of vehicles in the city, the tension in the urban transportation networks and carbon emissions. The public space is replaced by consumption-oriented structures such as high-rise buildings and/or shopping malls. Because rapid population growth and capitalization force cities to be established in this way.

As a solution proposal to this issue, the project was aimed to define more social areas over the insufficient square meters allocated to public space in concentrated cities and to enrich this social area with economic and social facilities. The park surface, which is defined as an open area, rises inclined according to the disabled ramp standards. In the area under the ramp, there is a bookstore, cafe, restaurant, playground, nursery, music studio (acoustically suitable), market, workshop, exhibition/event/recreation areas. It also houses functions such as security, infirmary, toilet and veterinary clinic. In this way, it is aimed to increase the time and quality of the time spent by the users in the open area and indirect social improvement.

At the same time, the reinforced concrete columns carrying the park surface expand upwards, creating depths with their drainage system in which the soil can be filled more, allowing larger trees to be planted above them.

The children’s playground aims to create a more creative playing process for the users by overlapping with undefined layers. Instead of the stereotypical, which can be played one-way furniture that we see in today’s parks. The first layer, in which there are undefined, walkable hills in the middle, connects each other with tunnels. In the second layer, the ropes knitted between two steel pipes with asymmetrical movements allow different types of play for children, such as climbing, hanging, running, reaching and chasing, as in the first layer. The third layer takes shape as a shallow pool. The water level in this pool is designed to change according to the weather conditions and a drainage system has been considered. By moving between these layers, players self-design an ever-changing gaming experience. Finally, a continuous bench surface and a layer of trees rising from the lawn surround the playground area, defining its boundaries and acting as a buffer zone between the playground area and the rest of the area to increase security.

Considering that the park needs to be illuminated during the night, the lamps produce their energy during the day with solar panels and battery units. The vines act as a canopy at high temperatures and increase energy efficiency by allowing buildings to naturally cool through the ivy’s transpiration.
