Moda Hill
The project area is located in one of the oldest and most vibrant residential areas in İstanbul. 3.000 square meter-sized area stands across the Moda pier and starting point of Moda coastline, which has a huge potential as a public space and observation terrace. The project’s main function is a semi-Olympic swimming pool and a gym space, it is also enriched with other functions like a restaurant, cafe, educational areas, etc.
The main concept of the project shapes around the idea of melting into existing topography, in response to respecting the near built environment. Main functions are positioned under the natural level of the natural terrain and covered with amorphous, rhythmic, sustainable timber structure skin, which mimics the natural topography of the existing land. This semi-transparent, sunlight-controlled skin creates a hybrid roof-facade-stair surface and acts as an amphitheater. This architectural behavior aims to build a structure, that belongs to its place like it has always been there before…
